Founded by Sean P. Mulqueeny, O.D., the practice is dedicated to helping patients with all of their vision needs. Today, Dr. Sean Mulqueeny and Dr. Brendan P. Mulqueeny provide comprehensive eye care ranging from LASIK and other refractive surgery procedures to primary eye care, including eye health examinations, specialty contact lenses, and the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.

Sean P. Mulqueeny, O.D

Sean P. Mulqueeny, O.D. is a proud native of St. Louis, Missouri, and has practiced optometry since 1991, when he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Missouri School of Optometry. In 1993, he was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor and was promoted to Clinical Associate Professor in 2003.
Dr. Mulqueeny is a noted speaker and has traveled the world teaching and lecturing on many areas, including vision correction procedures such as LASIK and PRK (ASA) and the management and treatment of ocular disease such as dry eye syndrome. A specialist in the management of ocular diseases and the co-management of refractive and cataract surgery, Dr. Mulqueeny has won many prestigious awards. These include the Award for Clinical Excellence in the Area of Ocular Disease and the Vision Service Plan Scholarship for Clinical Excellence.
Sean Mulqueeny is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Missouri. A member of the Board of Optometric Society of St. Louis where he served as President in 2002, Dr. Mulqueeny is also affiliated with the American Optometric Association, Missouri Optometric Association, St. Louis Optometric Society, American Optometric Association/Contact Lens Section, and the M.D./O.D. Contact Lens Foundation of St. Louis.
Dr. Mulqueeny is involved in clinical research involving dry eye, currently serving as a Principal Investigator of the PROOF study to determine the natural progression of dry eye disease and the ONIT – Oral Nutritional Impact on Tear Film clinical investigation. He also serves on the advisory board for Zeavision, assisting in the development of products for eye care professionals and consumers to preserve healthy vision.
Dr. Mulqueeny is a former College Soccer All American. In the early 1980s, he played professional soccer for the St. Louis Steamers. He lives in Town and Country with his wife and two sons.
Brendan P. Mulqueeny, O.D

Dr. Brendan Patrick Mulqueeny is a skilled and compassionate optometrist, dedicated to providing exceptional eye care with a focus on both medical and specialty contact lens treatments. He currently practices at Mulqueeny Eye Centers, where he diagnoses and treats a wide range of ocular and systemic conditions, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, keratoconus, and dry eye disease. Dr. Mulqueeny is particularly experienced in fitting specialty contact lenses, including sclerals, hybrids, and myopia management lenses, ensuring patients receive tailored care for their unique visual needs.
Dr. Mulqueeny earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry in 2022, where he achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.822 and was consistently recognized on the Dean’s List. He was also honored with the Frank D. Fontana Memorial Scholarship and became a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. Prior to this, he completed dual Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Spanish from Texas Christian University, where he also received the Faculty Choice Award for Excellence in Spanish.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Mulqueeny serves as a Clinical Faculty/Preceptor at the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry, mentoring and training the next generation of optometrists in the Contact Lens Clinic. His role as the Contact Lens Chairman for the St. Louis Optometric Society further highlights his commitment to advancing the field of optometry through ongoing education and collaboration with peers. Dr. Mulqueeny’s extensive background includes previous roles as an ophthalmic technician, study coordinator for clinical trials, and emergency department scribe, where he developed strong patient communication skills and a comprehensive understanding of medical care in high-stress environments. His work in medically focused eye care has been enhanced by his experience managing worker’s compensation cases and performing independent medical evaluations.
Outside of his professional career, Dr. Mulqueeny is deeply involved in the optometric community and has held leadership positions in various organizations, including as President of the UMSL Chapter of the American Optometric Student Association. His passion for patient care extends beyond the clinic, as he has also volunteered in a variety of capacities, from community renovation projects to working with individuals with disabilities. Dr. Mulqueeny’s dedication to excellence in both patient care and education reflects his lifelong commitment to advancing optometry, and he is passionate about ensuring his patients receive the highest standard of care available.
